Buckhead & North Atlanta
Buckhead ( www.buckhead.net ) was once an outlying trading post that joined the city in 1952.  It quickly became Atlanta's premier shopping and dining area as well as its most fashionable living quarters.  

The Atlanta History Center, Swan House, and Alice Tully House, as well as numerous galleries and antique shops are located here.  Lenox Square (www.lenoxsquare.com ) and Phipps Plaza ( www.phippsplaza.com ), located in Buckhead, are the Southeast's premier shopping malls.

1417 BUCKHEAD, CUMBERLAND/GALLERIA, LENOX SQUARE: Buckhead Haven: Charming & intimate B&B with one available space.  Adjacent to the primary house, a detached carriage house consists of a second floor apartment and includes a spacious bedroom with two double beds, a large living room/dining nook, a full kitchen, an extra large shower bath with double sinks, satellite TV, DVD, a house phone, and washer/dryer.  There is a large swimming pool in the courtyard.  No smoking. photos

The bath features a 2 person cast iron tub, heated limestone floors with lots of floor space and a large lavatory pedestal. Queen bed in large bedroom. Emory, Druid Hills, Decatur, East Lake

The Emory neighborhood is a beautiful part of Atlanta located on the northeast part of town and is the home of the Emory University Complex, which includes the university, Emory Hospital, the Emory Clinics, and the Carlos Museum. The national Centers for Disease Control are also located nearby.     

           Druid Hills ( www.druidhills.org ) is another historic Atlanta neighborhood located adjacent to Emory. It is a community of grand homes and expansive lawns. Home styles include Mediterranean, Dutch revival, Colonial, and contemporary. The Fernbank Natural History Museum is located here as well as a number of beautiful, natural looking parks designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of Central Park in New York.

          The East Lake community is a very historic part of the city with attractions that include the East Lake Country Club. Many old homes have been restored and the community has its own train station that is part of the MARTA system.

1300 -- OMAMA'S HOMESTAY B&B NEAR EMORY UNIVERSITY, CDC. Renovated 1960's brick, ranch-style offers three traditionally furnished guestrooms (one with two twin beds, one with a extra firm double bed and one single bedded studio) with private baths. Kosher breakfast is available; walk to Orthodox Synagogue.

3244-- DECATUR/AVONDALE. This is the circa 1900 country “gentleman’s” farmhouse & former dairy farm built by Judge John S. Candler. The home has been sensitively renovated and offers a private, two-bedroom suite. There is a large living room with working fireplace, keeping room also with fireplace, full kitchen with door to sundeck and hot tub, two large bedrooms with queen and full beds, and full bath. Grant Park

          Grant Park ( www.grantpark.org ) is one of Atlanta's most historic neighborhoods. Developed in 1883 by Col. Lemuel P. Grant, the area is a wonderful mix of historic post Civil War Queen Anne Victorian houses & 1920's Craftsman bungelows. It is also the home of the nationally acclaimed Zoo Atlanta and the Cyclorama, the colossal Civil War painting in the round, featuring the burning of Atlanta.  Grant Park is very close to Downtown Atlanta and it has it's own Marta station.


924 -- GLENWOOD PARK, GRANT PARK, ZOO ATLANTA  Glenwood Park ( www.glenwoodpark.com ) is an EarthCraft Community that is noted as one of the top places to live by Atlanta Magazine. Walk to shops, galleries, parks, from this beautiful large, one bedroom condo on the second floor. Inman Park & Candler Park
          Inman Park ( www.inmanpark.org ) is Atlanta's first trolley-line suburb, and was established in the mid to late 19th century. It is an area of fine true Victorian and Craftsman style homes that have all been restored and painted bright colors.  There are numerous parks throughout the neighborhood and a mass transit station (MARTA) is located near the center of the community.  The historic retail area called Little Five Points is adjacent to Inman Park and is one of the more colorful of Atlanta's shopping districts.

           Candler Park is another dynamic part of Atlanta on the northeast part of town, which was named after its historic park. This park provides many pleasures for area residents including golf, swimming, bike trails and tennis. The Park was named after the founder of the Coca Cola Company, Asa Griggs Candler.

100  -- INMAN PARK, KING CENTER, CARTER CENTER.  Beautiful 1912 historic cottage originally built for Robert W. Woodruff, Atlanta's famous anonymous donor and Coca-Cola soft drink magnate.  Walking distance to Marta station.  Three rooms, queen and twin beds, all with private baths.  photos

Midtown & Ansley Park
           Midtown Atlanta ( www.midtownatlanta.org ) is truly one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city at this time. Its combination of historic houses and retail establishments, high-rise hotels, offices, apartments and condos, as well as its theatres and night-life, make it one of the very few true urban neighborhoods in the city. The Margaret MItchell House is open to the public and is located in the center of the community.  The High Museum of Art, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Theatre and the Atlanta Opera are located here.

           Ansley Park is located between Midtown and Buckhead and is an absolutely beautiful community laid out around 1900. Its fine homes and lovely parks make it one of Atlanta's most desirable neighborhoods.  Ansley Park is adjacent to Atlanta's theatre district on Peachtree Street.  It also joins historic Piedmont Park, which houses the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, tennis courts, bike trails, and a large lake.

Suburban Areas
Stone Mountain, Georgia, (www.stonemountain.org) is both a small town and a popular state park. Both are located just east of Atlanta along Highway 78. The village of Stone Mountain was chartered in 1839, making it the second oldest city in the county. It has the look and feel of a bygone era, and boasts over 50 specialty shops and restaurants that offer a wide variety of items and services. Stone Mountain Park's gates are open daily from 6 am until midnight. Most of the park attractions open at 10 am, weather permitting.

992 -- STONE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE: Built in 1850 and restored in 1995, this lovely B&B is one of the area's oldest structures. Six rooms are available, most with queen bed and Jacuzzi. Full breakfast. Virginia-Highland & Morningside
          Virginia Highland ( www.virginiahighland.com ) is truly one of Atlanta's most unique urban neighborhoods. This area began its residential development in the 1890's and later added many very interesting commercial properties interspersed in the community. This created a very livable "walking" district where nearby residents mingle with the many out-of-town guests who flock to all the restaurants, shops, galleries, and museums it has to offer.


         Morningside is the adjacent neighborhood just north of Virginia Highland, and although it has more of an exclusive residential feel, is just as lovely and inviting as it's neighbor to the south.         

          The Carter Center lies between Inman Park and the Virginia-Highland neighborhoods.
